Mayor Ravenstahl Talks With Pittsburgh Seniors

Mayor Ravenstahl, today, paid visits to two local Senior Centers in Pittsburgh's Northside.

He spoke to the residents about the issues that concern them most such as clean and safe neighborhoods. He also answered questions and addressed concerns from those in attendance. Their concerns ranged from rent rebates and low income housing to vandalism in their community.

Luke has made it a point to look out for Pittsburgh's seniors. He introduced the Envelope of Life program, a life-saving outreach to City seniors that lets paramedics know a senior's health circumstances before there's an emergency - reducing delays in care.

He also invested in senior safety by giving away nearly 2,500 smoke detectors. And he has brought the 311 Ravenstahl Response Line to seniors as a SeniorInterests employee visits every senior center twice a month to take reports of broken street lights, potholes, and neighborhood safety issues.

Pittsburgh Senior News has called Mr Ravenstahl "A Mayor for All Ages". In a February 2007 article they wrote, "Ravenstahl also sees his role as liaison between seniors and city, county, and state government - especially with issues concerning health care, housing and any programs that seniors may be eligible for but may not be aware of."

Mayor Ravenstahl looks forward to continued dialog with Pittsburgh's seniors in the coming weeks.
