The Pittsburgh Foundation and the University of Pittsburgh Institute of Politics will co-host a June 5 forum on cooperation between cities and counties, the two entities announced Thursday.
Speakers from Charlotte, Miami and Louisville, and experts on government consolidation, as well as Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato, will be on the agenda for the forum at the Senator John Heinz History Center in the Strip District. Mr. Ravenstahl and Mr. Onorato have said they want a referendum on whether to merge their governments.
The organizers hope the forum will serve as the kick-off to a public education campaign. Admission is free, but registration is required and can be done online at www.iop.pitt.edu/June5.
